Tina Turner: Simply The Best

Tina Turner (birth name Anna Mae Bullock) was born on November 26, 1939 in Nutbush,Tennessee.  An American icon.

Biography and Career

When she was 17, while living in St.Louis, Missouri, her sister Alline took her in Club Manhattan where the Kings of the Rhythm were invited . The singer of the band was Ike Turner.  Two years later, she became the main vocalist of the Kings of Rhythm, recording the song “A Fool in Love” together with Ike. “A Fool in Love” became a hit. She and Ike moved to California and Anna changed her name into Tina Turner. It was Ike’s idea because he loved savage African women.

In 1966, Phil Specter became the producer of Tina Turner releasing the song “River Deep, Mountain High”. The song was a failure, being the 88th in Billboard. But, that same year, in July, “River Deep, Mountain High” reached the third place on the tops in Great Britain. She was invited to sing in the opening of the Rolling Stones Tour in the autumn of the same year.

On July 1976, at 37, with a new order in her life, Tina begun her life as an solo artist. She had three shows at the Ritz Hotel. Rod Stewart invited her to sing together “Hot Legs”.

Her star was rising higher. Tina worked with Mick Jagger releasing the single “Honky Tonk Woman”. In 1983, the single “Let’s Stay Together ” was on 5th place in the British top. The Album “Private Dancer” was brought to Capital Records on April 1984.

Considered to be the queen of rock ‘n ‘roll music, Tina Turner is the most dynamic singer in the history of music. We may say she is a survivor.
